The embattled actress appeared to promote her cameos in 'Scary Movie 5' and Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management,' but the interviewed turned awkward when Letterman needled the starlet until she opened up on her upcoming court-ordered rehab stint. Lohan called it a 'blessing.'
“Now, do you have addiction problems?” David Letterman asked Lindsay Lohan. Deflecting with some levity, Lohan quipped, “Now you sound like Dr. Phil.”
Lindsay Lohan called her upcoming court-ordered rehab stint a “blessing” Tuesday after funnyman David Letterman served up some serious questions about her sobriety during a “Late Show” interview.
The actress was on the Manhattan-based show to promote her cameos in “Scary Movie 5” and Charlie Sheen’s sitcom “Anger Management,” and she squirmed uncomfortably in her chair as Letterman veered off script.
“Now, aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now?” the 65-year-old comedian asked.
“Do you not watch anything that goes on? What are you, a tabloid now?” the 26-year-old Lohan shot back with a tight smile.
She said May 2 is her deadline to report for the three months of rehab that a California judge gave her for reckless driving and lying to police about a car wreck last June.
“How many times have you been in rehab?” Letterman asked.
“Several,” Lohan replied, turning away to glare at someone offstage.
“And how will this time be different? What are they rehabbing, first of all? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” Letterman continued as the audience laughed.
“We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview, I’m just saying to everyone,” Lohan replied with exasperation.
“No, but, but, it’ll be three months and ...” Letterman said, not giving up.
Lohan finally relented.
“I think, to be honest, I’m the happiest when I’m working and the healthiest, and I think this an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing ... and not a curse," she said.
“To be able to, yeah — it’s perhaps a lifesaver, a career saver,” Letterman said as the audience applauded.

“Now you sound like Dr. Phil,” Lohan answered, scoring a laugh.
“Yeah, I’m sorry. Is it, like, alcohol? Do you drink too much?” Letterman asked.
“We’ve discussed this in the past,” Lohan said stiffly.
“Did we really? When did we discuss — now I’m the one who’s having the blackouts ... I oughta be at rehab. For the love of God, what is wrong with me?” he said as he laughed.
“Had a wonderful time at the (Late Show),” Lohan wrote on Twitter after the sit-down. “It was great fun!”
The awkward interview marked Lohan’s fifth visit to the “Late Show” and came a day after an opposing lawyer said she missed a court-ordered deposition in California.
The scheduled deposition related to a lawsuit filed by celebrity photographer Grigor Balyan.
Balyan claims Lohan was riding shotgun when her assistant hit him with her car outside a Hollywood nightclub in 2010.
“Clearly, she has a lot on her plate,” the photographer’s lawyer, Neil Steiner, told the Daily News, but “we believe she has some specific knowledge that is important in our lawsuit, and we do need to get her deposition.”
Steiner said her absence violated a court order, and he planned to report it to the judge.
Lohan’s criminal lawyer, Mark Heller, told The News he would call Lohan’s civil lawyer on the California case and “work something out.”
